Levi Franks (NZ) wins the U21 Croquet World Championship
Croquet New Zealand comment “Our World Champion! Levi Franks”, showing just how proud they are of their young Champion.
The championship started 14 April 2025 at the Sarasota Croquet Club, Florida. England had three players in the event, Declan MacPhee (17), Sam Cuthbert (19) and Jack Good (18). Sam Cuthbert won the Shield (consolation) event and Jack Good made it to the semi-final, who was then knocked out by Levi Franks himself.
Franks went on to win the Championship in three straight games against Egyptians hopeful Fawzy Helmy. The event was livestreamed, and the final game is now available to view >> https://www.youtube.com/@rdilleyuscacroquet5319.
Dominic Nunns, Croquet England Chair of Internation Committee, comments “In recent years Croquet New Zealand have been pioneers in the field of encouraging young players of our sport. The success of Levi Franks and his country are very well deserved. Congratulations Levi!”
Croquet England are currently working on a national youth programme which encourages youngsters from local communities to engage with their croquet clubs, and provides schools with the support to demonstrate the sport of Croquet, a low impact sport which rewards strategy over strength.
The next Under 21 GC World Championship is planned to be hosted by Egypt in 2027.
