Hove Beach Croquet Club leads the National Croquet Day Celebrations
As the Hove Beach Croquet Club spring tournament begins, with the crowds spectating from their deck chairs with summer drinks and sharing platters, this was a perfect way to begin the celebrations of National Croquet Day.
National Croquet Day is set for Sunday 3rd May 2026, but every day should be a Croquet Day, and our clubs will be celebrating in their own unique ways over the next few weeks. Kicking off the nation-wide party were the members of Hove Beach who welcomed Andy Dalby-Welsh (Chief Executive) and Alison Maugham from Croquet England. The members were able to share their stories of this unique club in it’s beautiful setting, showing how the grass roots of Croquet thrive on the seafront of Hove Beach.
Andy and Alison were both able to take part in the tournament playing fun yet competitive doubles matches, all set off on rounds by the sound of a gong. The club is renowned for it’s fun and welcoming nature, where the visitors to the beach are able to enjoy watching the games played from the promenade.
Many events will be taking place around the country and clubs will be opening their doors to the communities around them.
