England win the 2026 Association Croquet World Team Championship

The England Team, sponsored by Alliance Witan, have won the 2026 Association Croquet World Team Championship.  The final of the centenary event was held at Surbiton Croquet Club, where the England Team proudly completed the last test to hold the MacRobertson Shield.

Over the course of three five day tests, England beat America, Australia and New Zealand to become the holders of the MacRobertson Shield, winning the 2026 Association Croquet World Team Championship.  After fifteen days of play, the tournament came to a close when James Death pegged out against New Zealand’s Logan McCorkindale to win 26-25.

The closing ceremony was opened by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston, Mayor Thay Thayalan, who praised the players for their contribution to the sport, and Surbiton Croquet Club for hosting the event and bringing Croquet into the community.

Andy Dalby-Welsh, Croquet England CEO, presented England team Captain, Samir Patel, with the MacRobertson Shield, and paid tribute to the volunteers, supporters and host clubs for their continued support to the event and to Croquet in England.  After presenting all the players with their commemorative medals, in his comments he paid tribute to the four team captains “The spirit that has been shown by the captains across the tournament, the fun that’s been provided, the spirit that’s been shown, but also with the backdrop of some of the toughest competition seen on the lawns, has been truly remarkable.  So, to play with that spirit and that level of competition hand in hand, a huge recognition to all four of you and thank you.”

The next Association Croquet World Team Championship will be held in New Zealand in 2030, where the four countries will meet again to have fun, build friendships and take part in world-wide competition.
