England dominates the European Championships 2025

Of 32 players, 9 England players made it through the blocks to play in the knockout stages of the Championship.  England continued to dominate the championship throughout the knockout where it was an all-England set of semi-finals.  Congratulations to Euan Burridge from Bowdon Croquet Club, our 2025 Golf Croquet European Champion.

Semi finalists:

Jack Good (Bowdon Croquet Club) v Aston Wade (Hurlingham Croquet Club)

Euan Burridge (Bowdon Croquet Club) v Stephen Mulliner (Surbiton Croquet Club)

Although the first semi final was a very closely fought match, Aston Wade won the match with two 7-6 results.  He then faced Euan Burridge in the final, who had earlier beaten Stephen Mulliner 7-3, 7-6.  Although Stephen came back well in game two, it wasn’t enough to force the match into a final game for a best of three.

Both players were showing top form in the final, but Euan Burridge was clearly the one to beat throughout the entire tournament.  Those watching the live-stream could see the determination, precision and power that Euan displayed consistently and effectively.  He only dropped a single match from the whole tournament to Keith Aiton.

Euan showed his delight in winning the tournament saying “It was a pleasure to play against such a strong fields, the European Championship goes from strength to strength each year.  As a team, we were proud to see nine England players through to the knockout stages.  I was delighted to become the 2025 European Champion. Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club have been exceptional hosts for this tournament, I am very much looking forward to returning to in June for the Golf Croquet Open Championship.”
