Croquet England announces team selection: England v Spain Test Match

The England vs Spain Golf Croquet test match will be played at Roehampton Croquet Club between 21st and 23rd June 2024.  The player selection has now been announced, congratulations to Jamie Burch, Euan Burridge, J-P Moberly (Team Captain), Tobi Savage, Stuart M Smith and Aston Wade.

This will be the 4th test match played between England and Spain, originally played to encourage the development of competitive croquet at an international level between the two countries.  The 2023 match was played in Spain at the Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro.  England won the test with a convincing 18-8 lead, this was to reclaim the title from Spain who won in 2022.

In a report to the Croquet Gazette referring to the development of croquet in Spain, J-P Moberly, England Team Captain, wrote “Their passion for the game has started to spill over onto the international scene, with Spain contesting Tier 1 of the 2025 GC World Team Championship (Openshaw Shield) and their top players making inroads to the serious stages of World Championships.”

Croquet England have scheduled this event as part of their Livestreaming programme for the coming season.  The full details of the broadcast will be shared nearer to the event.
