In a statement on the Croquet England website, Chris Clarke, Chair of Selectors, announces:

“Croquet England are delighted to announce the England Team selected to defend the MacRobertson Shield next summer. Congratulations and good luck to those selected.

Mark Avery
Jamie Burch
James Death
Robert Fulford
Jack Good
Samir Patel”

The England Team are proudly sponsored by Alliance Witan.  Mark Atkinson, Investor Relations Manager for Alliance Witan, said:

“Having watched some of these players train over the winter at The Hurlingham Club, it is no surprise that they have been selected to play for their country.  It was exciting to follow the recent World Championship where we were all watching the livestream to cheer on Mark Avery in the final.  Good luck Team England.”

The World Team Championship will be contested by England, Australia, New Zealand and USA, all sending teams of six players to compete for the prestigious MacRobertson Shield.  England are the current holders of the World title and will be defending with a very strong team.  Mark Avery was the runner up in the most recent World Singles Championship, James Death is the European Champion and Jamie Burch holds the #2 position in the world rankings.

The championship will be livestreamed from The Hurlingham Club, Roehampton Club, Sussex County Croquet Club and Surbiton Croquet Club in the three week long test series.

Andy Dalby-Welsh, Croquet England CEO, sends his congratulations to the team:

“Having been fortunate enough to represent my country at several international series, I know how exciting it is to be selected for such a major competition and the pride this brings.  At Croquet England we are very grateful to Alliance Witan who will make this event a more special experience for our Team England players. I very much look forward to supporting the team this summer.”
